Clay Cane in Gel Tutorial by Tammy Warner

  Contac Tammy at Tammy@thehrte.com

After prepping stage and placing form. Add a thin layer of acrylic to the nail plate if adding bling. Mix glitter colors you want in gel then thinly sculpt out the shape of the desired nail. Here I faded the glitter mix up the nail plate as well. (If adding a lot of canes, then you want to cure. If not, set the slices in the uncured gel.)
The gel tackiness of my brush enables me to pick up the canes and place them on the nail
I like to overlap the canes to give it a 3d effect.. also want to make sure the canes are sliced very thin.
Once the canes are in place, I cure it again so the canes will adhere better and not move when capping with clear gel. If I don't add a lot of canes than this would be my first time curing. It is easier to seat the canes in the uncured glitter gel and then cure because they wont move at all during capping and work is usually thinner.
After curing, top the canes in clear gel making sure to get gel in and around all the cane slices to prevent pockets and bubbles. You can also take the form off in this step before capping and then cure. Sometimes I leave the form on to make sure I have the sides built correctly, then I cure, take off the form and cure the underside.
File desired shape, top gloss, cure, enjoy..
