2003 Think Tank Report
1998 Think Tank Report HERE

It was a cold snowy day, but that did not stop us. One by one they showed, educators, nail techs, from local salons, list members from beautytech.com and a couple who have not even started school yet.

Ruth Windsor, a nail technician since 1998 had opened her home to 30 technicians in the Dearborn Heights area. As each guest arrived they were handed a booklet that was stuffed with BIO’s on our hostess and each presenter, background information for the charity that was chosen to raise money for. Information on the Dust Extractor recommended by Dr. Spalding – www.justfortoes.com . Check your nails 5 ways and competition information from Vicki Peters. Judging sheets with the help from Vicki Peters and Beautytech.com and a resource sheet with helpful websites.

Everyone helped themselves to the continental breakfast that was donated by a list member Linda Coleman and Entenman’s. Then we mingled until the fun began.

Becky Hogston, cosmetologist since 1991 from Belleville, Michigan, with Salon Iris (www.SalonIris.com) shared with us their computer software program. It is very user friendly and many features to help run your business, salon, and etc. more effectively and efficiently.

Camillia Joseph, nail technician for over 16 years, from Grand Rapids, Michigan with JayCam Instruments, L.L.C. (www.sculptra2000.com), show us the new way to file nails with ease and confidence.

Brenda Gibson, nail technician since 1988, from Perrysburg, Ohio with Star Nails (www.cuccio.com) demoed the Instant Acrylic Dip System and the Bella Mani Kit.

Tanis Darling, nail technician for 19 years, from Toronto, Canada, show us with ease how to sculpt and do a natural nail overlay with Light Elegance gels
(www.lightelegence.com).

Deborah McKinley, nail technician for the past 10 years, also from Toronto, Canada, taught us how to do nail art with colored acrylic using Odyssey powders (www.odysseynail.com).

Kim Volpe, nail technician from Ohio shared her knowledge with the new "Natural Alternative" from Nail Tek (www.nailtek.com). A great way to add length to natural nail and help treat without any damage. Giving techs an opportunity to expand their business and build a stronger clientele.

Laura Joppich, nail technician for the past 5 years, from Wixom, Michigan introduced us to the Manual Microdermabrasion Kit from FPO (www.FPOProducts.com). A great way to get radiant, younger skin. A service that technicians can use as an add on or develop a service around it.

The best part was not only seeing how to properly use each product, we were also able to handle and practice with it ourselves. If we had questions we could get them answered right away.

Lunch was also provided. A table was set up for a silent auction with all the proceeds going to the Starlight Children’s Foundation, (www.starlightmidwest.org). There was a Natural Alternative Kit valued at $49.95 and the high bidder was Judy Jean for $31.00, but donated $50.00. A kit from Sache and Scrub valued at $ 40.00 and the high bidder on that was Rachelle Yorch for $15.00. And last was the Bella Mani Kit valued at $89.95 and the high bidder was Marie Marker for $32.00.

There were door prizes too, the winners were Janet Nagbe and Jenika Blakley both won NSI Perma Gloss Kits, Melissa Pearson won the Dip System from Backscratchers and Deb McKinley won the Ultra disinfect and tray from Ultronics.

As we left we were handed bags to take home. Inside the bags were Nail Radience Bullet tubes and emergency stikr bullet tubes from backscratchers, Solar butter from Creative Nail Design, Whipped body butter and polish from Haken USA, trial gel kits from Light Elegance, 7 days advanced hydratying cream and renew from Nail tek, $15.00 gift certificates from NSI, acrylic trail kit from Odyssey, Drill Talk books from Vick Peters, pedi slippers from Star Nails, Nail Desigins, Nail Art That’s It? , Ultracare for hands from Ultronics, and trail acrylic kits from Young Nails.

We would like to thank all the manufactures and educators for helping make this day special. My hat is off to all you.
