Acrylic nails...3 & 4 weeks between fills?

I would say about 90% of my clients that wear acrylic nails wait between 3 and 4 weeks to come for a fill. Then when they come in they don't understand why they are looking bad and the nails are chipping. I have tried to explain that waiting almost 4 weeks (some even longer) to have a fill done is not good. Of course no one listens. Then they wonder why it takes me longer to get their nails done. Does anyone have clients that wait this long between fills? I find it rather aggravating.

Most of my clients go three weeks and up. There is usually a lot of regrowth, but not much if any damage ,and the polish is starting to wear on the ends. Takes longer to file them down ,also. Most of them have no complaints ,however on the rare occasion they make a comment ,I tell them to imagine how many things they do with their hands in just one day ,and imagine that wear and tear over a three week period...

Some people can go 3-4 weeks with few problems, many can't! I have regular fills and re-tips, with a $17 price difference, so if someone has more than minor repairs with a regular fill, they get charged for a retip. I find that reduces aggravation on my end and they know they are getting more than a regular fill so they don't complain.

People go longer to reduce the cost. I tell my customers.....acrylics are designed to last 2 weeks. If you go longer you do so at your own risk. (There is always the chance of lifting and greenies). That being said my prices increase each week that passes. Your choice.

Clients can wait, but pay the consequences if their nails need repairs.

Most of my acrylic clients go 2 or three weeks....however I have ONE lady who does four weeks. Her nails grow SO SLOW (not sure why) that her four week growth is like someone elses 2 1/2 or three. I charge most people more for over three weeks since the balance if so off - they are more prone to breaks and chips. The one lady I already mentioned I don't charge more because for her it really isn't too long. The discounted shops in my area normally charge for repairs - so they don't save anything waiting to long at those places OR with me.

It is my opinion that if a client waits too long between fills they are more prone to picking... and I hate pickers! So I try to counsel them on the appropriate wait time and hope they take my advice.

I think I'm going to start charging extra if clients are going over 3 weeks. I just had a client that went 5 weeks. Her nails weren't bad but it took extra time.

If you are booked solid then yes you should charge more. If you are sitting around more than you would like to be, then I suugest you keep your prices as they are unless you like just sitting around that is. The client that goes longer may not keep her nails if the price goes up.

In my experience, more outgrowth doesn't necessarily require more time/effort from me unless there are repairs, for which I charge.

I'm a big believer in beginning as you mean to go on... Changing price structure at the same time that you start having less flexibility due to being full could cause more hard feelings than just charging for services according to time, cost and skill level from the start.

I would hope that over time your skill level increases, which creates a demand for your services which enables you to charge more. I still have a few clients that I charge the same price as when I started because they helped me build my business and I enjoy their company.

I have 2 different prices for my 2 week and 3 week clients. (I prefer 2 weeks) but if they go over there aloted weeks that they choose it is $10 a week extra. We rely on regular fills to make our business run efficiently. Plus if people wait to long there nails look terrible which looks bad for us. :0)
