Any suggestions?

I have just purchased a liability policy through State Farm. It is a company I trust and have done business with for years. They explained how everything is covered in every imaginable situation and I thought it was a reasonable price... Shoot me an email if you have any questions...

I have mine through State Farm as well. I love that I can have auto deduction from my business checking account. It's one less bill I have to worry about! It covers everything that happens inside my salon while my landlord's insurance covers everything that can happen outside the salon. I feel pretty safe with them and it's only about $30 a month.

I had Liberty Northwest and after many many accounting issues and billing problems - I switched two years ago to State Farm.... no problems and no hassles. It's about $30 per month.... hope that helps.

I use American Family. I was tired of SF charging me extra to bill me and take payment. I went with American Family ins. $22 a month for the same coverage I had. Auto paid and saves me over $80 a year.

I use State Farm. A bit under $30 per month. It comes out automatically each month. No problems thus far.

Sobeit what on earth were they charging you $80 a year for? I literally just signed up with them and they charge $1 extra for auto draft or you can save that and pay it all up front. For $1 I'll deal with it for convenience purposes. You may want to double check as to why you where being charged so much??? I'm glad I changed to state farm, it sounds like I made the right move!

What is covered under professional liability insurance? I am an employee in a salon. Am I covered under their policy?

It does not matter if you are an employee or a renter....you should always carry your own professional liability insurance. Yes, the salon should be carrying liability on you but if a client decided to sue you for something you did to them not only would they sue the salon but since you carry a license and were the tech that did the work on them they can also sue you personally.

I am a business underwriting specialist for State Farm. All the answers provided here are right on. If your an employee, you should feel pretty safe that your covered. The relationship of employee/employer would put the vicarious liability into play as employees are considered covered under the business owners policy. I would only pray that the salon owner purchased the professional liability endorsement. However, if that employee does work on the side should have their own policy. Now if you were a renter and leased a chair, this is when you should have your own policy for sure. As for price, its a matter of what coverages you want to have and at what limits.
