I'm not a nail tech, but a salon owner. For backbar, I use Industry Source or Universal companies for a lot of things, but have also ordered directly from many manufacturers as well (Zoya, Famous Names, Essie, Tweezerman, etc) and even purchased things off of random vendors on Amazon. I really just look for the best prices and/or best offers on the brands I want and try to buy as much as I can of when it's a good deal.
For retail, I will only purchase wholesale from manufacturer.

ditto - multiple suppliers but I try to look for free shipping offers ...I also do Industry Source, CosmoProf (no free shipping there) ...I also just found this website & placed an order a couple days ago - great prices and free ship over $100 - will let you know if I am happy with them when my order arrives - so far they have answered my questions within 24 hours (email)

I was a salon owner for 23 years and I always looked for 3 things in a supplier. 1) Customer service, 2) price and 3) education...not necessarily in that order. Most pricing for example, is MSRP therefore should all be the same across the board. If you are getting a lower price, proceed with caution as it's probably and usually "has been" product.

I have found you don't always get the best price from the manufacturer ( example: the Cuccio Matchmaker deal offered by The Industry Source this month ...Star/Cuccio is not offering that through the parent site) ...and sometimes they route you to a distributor (like IBD & Akzents does) - at least that has often been my experience - but as always ...you never know

I've used and been very happy with Marlo (especially, always accurate, always fresh product, good prices, low shipping), Beauty West, Nailite, trying to remember others....
had poor service (no service but with attitude with EZ nails, some seem to love, didn't have product I specified, didn't ship then had to argue about refund...months later... still no refund.. you didn't ship? you don't keep the money, right?). Have had problem too with INM shipping old yellowed top coat, then wanted me to pay to return it. I do shop there, but drive over (long drive) when needed so I can see the product. Another place I walk into is Nail Supply Unlimited, Anaheim, CA. I see they do ship, have most main brand full product lines. They can be a little funny so call and make it clear what you want, works when I walk in ;-).
I've told new suppliers, if you ship the wrong item, or if it is old product, I will expect you to do a pick up and replace it or refund.... isn't it a shame to have to spell it out? But it usually works... if they refuse, I know they know they have problems with the quality or issues with poor customer service. I asked a local supplier if I could open and check the age of a product on the shelf, a large container that would take me some time to use up, the container was old and dusty, we opened the seal to sniff, old oil smell, he put it back on the shelf. Reason I stopped using Swiess... old lotions, partially cured gels... and the attitude... sales girl told me "most people don't bother returning" as if that were a good thing, but then Cosmoproff did it recently with bottles of OPI gel polish base coat... dried up in the bottle, rep argued then put it back on the shelf...
I usually shop for who has all (or most) the products I need to pay shipping once, and compare prices... amazing difference some times... then again, I want fresh product, not a resin or lotion that has been sitting in the warehouse for years... no savings in that...

I agree, they don't always know their product either... ordered Thermosheild from them, wanted the thinner drops, total confusion. BTW, don't bother, thinner drops dried up in bottle before I used them....
