I wonder if anyone knows when you make a Salon menu does it HAVE to State that there is a sliding scale end result or is using the words( & Up ) legal? (I don't know if I am coming across what I need to know) My Hairdressers uncle recently got a fine of $250.00 because his Salon Menu stated (& Up) instead of having it say Woman's Haircut 20.00 to 40.00.
Thanks in advance...
(It's confusing the Students)

Maria.. never ever heard of such a thing.. can't you call Albany?? I'd call twice tho, cause I always got different answers.. I dont ever recall seeing anything to pricing rules in the laws... now you are going to make me look where ever I go!!

I'd be more careful of pricing according to gender . . .
The salon that I used to work in got fine for different mani/pedi price for man and women.
As far as I'm concerned, I'm working on fingers and toes, and could care less about other body parts : )
Deb...Is there a specific dept I need to contact? Jamie...Our Buzz cuts for guys are $12.00 and Woman's Cuts start at $20.00 That is the only place where any of my prices differ between guys and girls... My whole Menu is Online @ Studio97sbu.com
If "Pat" from SNL were to reserve an appointment, I don't want to worry about what to charge . . .

The same is here in the salon where I go. I don't know what make this difference and I really don't like it since I don't see a good reason behind it.
It does make sense sometimes for hair - if I get a cut and style (blowdry/flat iron) that's different than when my husband gets a cut and walks out with a wet head. Smile I don't see it for nails, though - I just charge the same.
It makes sense to pay more when you have more work done.
I think if you just listed a "Buzz" and didn't say for guys or girls that would work? I mean some women will get buzzed, at least they do here. And I don't think that I would charge more to buzz a woman than a guy. You might say "hair length" but we have long-haired guys here. Just a thought.
