ALL ENTRIES:

DO NOT SHARE YOUR ENTRY MATERIAL WITH ANYONE BEFORE THEY ARE DISPLAYED ONLINE - You will be disqualified automatically

DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHICH IS YOUR ENTRY UNTIL THE JUDGING IS ANNOUNCED - You will be disqualified automatically

It is the competitors responsibility to read and understand all the rules. Additionally it is the competitors responsibility to check the web site for rule updates or revisions. WWWebServices/BeautyTech is not responsible for a competitor who does not understand the rules.

  1. Contest open to all professional nail technicians, licensed or residing in unlicensed states or countries. Students may enter Junior Division ONLY.  This includes licensed cosmetologists & cosmetology students that perform nail services.
    1. Senior division: previously entered AND placed 3rd or higher in a fully qualified* competition (in a similar category), online or off.
    2. Junior division: previously entered and placed 4th or lower in a fully qualified* competition (in a similar category), online or off -OR- previously never entered a fully qualified* competition online or off.
    3. Full-time salaried employees of manufacturers are not eligible to compete.
    4. Manufacturer and independent educators may enter all categories and automatically qualify for SENIOR status.
    5. All FIRST PLACE Winners of the 2009 Strut Your Stuff contest at BeautyTech are NOT eligible to enter ANY category in 2010. All other winners in 2009 or previous may enter any category in 2010 according to the Jr./Sr. rules above.
    6. ALL ENTRIES: All entry material (presentation, close up, barrel & apex shots) must be created specifically for this current competition. All photos must be using the SAME nails (same tips or same enhancements)
  2. TWO entries per entrant / per category. Entry fees apply to EACH entry. 
    1. Submissions may not be or have not been entered into any other contest of any kind.
    2. Your entry submission will be confirmed via email.
    3. You will be notified if your entry was or was not accepted into the category you have entered in.
  3. ALL entry images may be taken with a film or digital camera, scanned into a computer, directly from a live model or tips, using any commercially available camera, scanner, computer and software. Scans from photographs ARE acceptable. No points will be deducted for using one method over another. HOWEVER, digital photography gives a cleaner, more detailed result.     1. Please submit the largest image you can, winning images are submitted to the magazines and they need clear, large images. All entries will be resized for display online in-house. A thumbnail view will be created by WWWeb Services from the original and linked to the resized entry for judging purposes.
    2. Touchup permitted using any commercially available graphics program.
  4. All entry shots & headshot shall be submitted electronically by email to wkdwich@gmail.com or postal mail disk to the address below. Disk(s) to be returned ONLY with postage paid envelope as supplied by entrant.
  5. The entry form will be electronically submitted

ALL Categories

  1. Any type of enhancement may be used, acrylic, gel, fiberglass or silk, etc.
  2. Top coat, base coat, cuticle oil and gel "finish" products may be used. Excess cuticle oil will lose points.

REQUIRED:

  1. Enhancement Senior-- 
    1. A LIVE MODEL MUST BE USED
    2. COMPETITION STYLE - Deep smile lines & C-Curve. PINK & WHITES -- CLEAR or Blush ONLY on nail beds
      NO: Cover Pinks, Color Acrylic, Glitter Acrylic, Glitter Gel or Color Gel
    3. FOUR photos
      1. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover. (Should be done BEFORE polishing the 2 nails red)

      2. "Side shot" showing at least 2 nails from a side view, so the apex and shape can be better judged.
      3. "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.
      4. Close-up" of 4 nails - 2 painted with red cream polish, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted, 2 nails buffed to high shine and/or top coat.
    4. Nails may be any length and shape, keeping the "competition style" requirement in mind. 
    5. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
    6. Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction and cropping, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 4).
  2. Enhancement Junior--
    1. A LIVE MODEL MUST BE USED
    2. SALON STYLE - normal smile lines & C-Curve, no extra points for deep competition style smile lines or C-Curves. PINK & WHITES -- CLEAR or Blush ONLY on nail beds
      NO: Cover Pinks, Color Acrylic, Glitter Acrylic, Glitter Gel or Color Gel
    3. FOUR photos: 
      1. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover. (Should be done BEFORE polishing the 2 nails red)

      2. "Side shot" showing at least 2 nails from a side view, so the apex and shape can be better judged.
      3. "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.

    4. Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be "normal Salon length".
    5. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
    6. Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry
  3. Mixed Media Junior & Senior-- 
    1. All art must be created specifically for this competition. No art or tips used in any other competition may be used. NO RECYCLED ART
    2. A LIVE MODEL or TIPS (minimum 4 tips)
    3. DO NOT SEND 4 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ART DESIGNS in one photo -- submission should follow one theme or idea - There is no set theme, but entry MUST follow your chosen theme
    4. THREE photos: 
      1. "Close-up" of 4 nails, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted.
      2. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover.

      3. "Side shot" showing at least 2 nails/tips from a side view, so the design can be better judged.
    5. There is no "set" theme this year
    6. NOTHING more than 1/4" high, hanging, dangling, extending off the nail plate or free edge. Art should be contained within the canvas of the nail itself.
      1. If your art work is questionable as to how far it extends up or off the nail, you will be disqualified.
    7. Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be fitting of your design.
    8. Any type of art is acceptable: flat, air brush, color acrylic/gel, stones, glitter, clay canes, except NO Decals. Mix and match of art styles is acceptable - no points will be deducted for using one style art (eg: 100% hand painted).
    9. MUST be Original Art, no obscene, objectionable or copyrighted (ie: Disney characters, professional sports logos, personality likeness) material will be accepted. Decals are NOT allowed. Presidents likeness, historical papers, landmarks, etc are not considered original art and are not allowed.
    10. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
    11. Headshot: of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 4).
  1. All entries will be considered final when all materials have been received by BeautyTech (entry form, payment, scan(s), headshot, and essay(s)). NO REQUESTS FOR CHANGES FOR ANY REASON WILL BE ACCEPTED.
  2. All entry material, entry form and entry fees must be received by October 31, 2010 MIDNIGHT EST NO EXCEPTIONS
    DEADLINE EXTENDED TO MONDAY NOV. 1st, 2010
  3. ALL ENTRY MATERIAL MUST BE SENT WITHIN A 2 HOUR TIME PERIOD. If you are not prepared to send your images and payment and entry form at the same time, please wait until you are ready to do so
    1. EXCEPTION: if you are postal mailing part of your entry, please email or call and let us know this.
  4. INCOMPLETE ENTRIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED
  5. Check your email frequently after your submission for notice of acceptance, problems, etc.
  6. Late entries will not be accepted or returned (unless pre-paid postage is supplied).
  7. All entries will be displayed online, at beautytech.com in the contest area on November 3, 2010 for public viewing and judging.
  8. All judging sheets will be emailed to the entrant within two weeks of the close of the contest.
  9. A 1-10 100 point total scoring system will be used. 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.
    1. Enhancement categories will include criteria based on whether you use tips, sculpt, acrylic, gel, wraps, etc. Please see the judging sheets for the scoring
  10. In the event of a tie for place or grand prize, representatives from participating companies will be asked to judge the tied entries, based on the same criteria as the regular judges, to decide the winner.
  11. All prizes will be shipped directly from the individual manufacturer/distributor.
    1. Winners residing outside of the continental US:
      1. If possible should provide a US STREET address for your prizes (see entry form)
      2. If you can not provide a US postal address, due to high shipping costs and shipping restrictions, winners will be responsible for shipping costs.
  12. All judges decisions are final.
  13. Each entrant will receive one certificate of participation, postal mailed or emailed PDF format..
  14. In the event insufficient entries are received, WWWeb Services retains the right to extend the contest deadline at their discretion.
  15. WWWeb Services is not responsible for entry materials that are lost or damaged in transmission, shipping or prizes not received or damaged in shipping.
  16. All entry submissions become the property of WWWeb Services.
  17. Your entry is assumed permission for WWWeb Services to use online for viewing, judging and promotional purposes.
  18. Your name, address, phone number and email address will be shared with all participating companies.
  19. Winners will be announced to all major beauty trade publications.

JUDGING -- NEW FOR 2010

  1. All judging sheets will be emailed to the entrant within two weeks of the close of the contest
  2. A 1-10 100 point total scoring system will be used - 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.
    1. Enhancement categories will include criteria based on whether you use tips, sculpt, acrylic, gel, wraps, etc. Please see the judging sheets for the scoring
  3. JUNIOR ENHANCEMENT & MIXED MEDIA
    1. To be judged by a panel of Celebrity Judges according to the rules on the judging sheets
  4. SENIOR ENHANCEMENT & MIXED MEDIA
    1. Judging By Peer System - Judging will be performed by a panel of Celebrity Judges AND all Senior competitors within the same category, according to the rules and criteria on the judging sheets - EXCLUDING THEIR OWN ENTRIES
    2. Each SENIOR entrant will have 10 days to complete the judging of their peer's entries.
    3. Failure to complete your judging will disqualify YOUR entry and any judging you did complete.
    4. In the event of a tie, Celebrity Judges will be asked to judge the tied entries, based on the same criteria as the peer judges, to decide the winner.
  5. The organizers reserve the right to disqualify any Entrant/Peer Judge that is believed to be cheating or not competing in the fair spirit of the competition.

    2. Will be judged as a whole - Jr & Sr - by the editors of NAILS Magazine for the Grand Prize

* A fully qualified nail competition would be one that was held at a trade show, and/or open to any professionals for entries. A competition held in conjunction with say a networking day - open to only those attending, would not count as a "fully qualified" competition. If you have questions, please contact us.
