DO NOT TELL ANYONE WHICH IS YOUR ENTRY UNTIL THE JUDGING IS ANNOUNCED - You will be disqualified automatically

It is the competitors responsibility to read and understand all the rules. Additionally it is the competitors responsibility to check the web site for rule updates or revisions. WWWebServices/BeautyTech is not responsible for a competitor who does not understand they rules.

1. Contest open to all professional nail technicians, licensed or residing in unlicensed states or countries. Students may enter Junior Division ONLY.  This includes licensed cosmetologists & cosmetology students that perform nail services.
   1. Senior division: previously entered AND placed 3rd or higher in any competition (in a similar category), online or off.
   2. Junior division: previously entered and placed 4th or lower in any competition (in a similar category), online or off -OR- previously never entered any competition online or off.
   3. Manufacturer and independent educators may enter all categories; full-time salaried employees of manufacturers are not eligible to compete.
   4. Manufacturer and independent educators automatically qualify for SENOR status.
   5. All FIRST PLACE Winners of the 2005 Strut Your Stuff contest at BeautyTech are NOT eligible to enter ANY category in 2006. All other winners in 2005 or previous may enter any category in 2006 according to the Jr./Sr. rules above.
   6. ALL ENTRIES: All entries (presentation, close up, barrel shots, & essays) for the current competition must be created  specifically for this current competition. All photos must be using the SAME nails (same tips or same enhancements)
2. ONE entry per entrant / per category. Entry fees apply to EACH entry. 
   1. Submissions may not be or have been entered into any other contest of any kind.
   2. Your entry submission will be confirmed via email.
   3. Entries limited to 60 COMPLETE entries per category.
   4. You will be notified if your entry was or was not accepted into the category you have entered in.
3. ALL entries may be scanned into a computer, directly from a live model or tips, using any commercially available scanner, computer and software. Scans from photographs ARE acceptable. Digital photographs ARE acceptable. No points will be deducted for using one method over another. HOWEVER, digital photography and direct scans give a cleaner, more detailed result.    1. Entries should be submitted at 300 DPI, 100%, final size maximum 640 x 480 pixels, saved as JPEG file only. Sample Scans HERE Scanning tips HERE Reduce the image before transmitting to maximum 640 x 480 pixels. A thumbnail view will be created by WWWeb Services from the original and linked to the full size entry for judging purposes.
   2. Touchup permitted using any commercially available graphics program.
4. All entry shots & headshot shall be submitted electronically by email  attachment or postal mail disk to the address below. Disk(s) to be returned ONLY with postage paid envelope as supplied by entrant.
5. The entry form will be electronically submitted
6. Winners "step-by-step" Essay will be displayed on the winners page. Only electronic versions of "step-by-step" will be accepted and placed online. All essays will be displayed to the judges EXACTLY as they were submitted, no formatting, spell checking or any other type of adjustment will be made to submitted essays, except as noted below.
   1. DO NOT REFER TO PEOPLE OR BRAND OF PRODUCTS USED in your essays, they will be edited and removed
   2. Be sure to state what TYPE of product you used: (see the judging sheets for more info - THIS WILL EFFECT YOUR SCORE) examples
      1. acrylic overlay, white, blush powders
      2. white tips, acrylic clear powder
      3. color acrylic, enhanced with flat nail art
      4. airbrush over color gels
   3. If English is not your "first language" this will be taken into consideration on your essay.
7. ALL Categories
   1. Any type of enhancement may be used, acrylic, gel, fiberglass or silk, etc.
   2. Top coat, base coat, cuticle oil and gel "finish" products may be used. Excess cuticle oil will lose points.
8. REQUIRED:
   1. Enhancement Senior-- 
      1. A LIVE MODEL MUST BE USED
      2. COMPETITION STYLE - Deep smile lines & C-Curve. PINK & WHITES -- NO: Color Acrylic, Glitter Acrylic, Glitter Gel or Color Gel
      3. THREE photos: 
         1. "Close-up" of 4 nails - 2 painted with red cream polish, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted, 2 nails buffed to high shine and/or top coat.
         2. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover. (Should be done BEFORE polishing the 2 nails red)
         3. "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.
      4. Nails may be any length and shape, keeping the "competition style" requirement in mind. 
      5. Essay: "Step-by-step" detailing what type of enhancement (acrylic, gel, wrap) used as well as tip style (color -if white tip used) and product color, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
         DO NOT INCLUDE BRAND NAMES in the essay.
      6. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
      7. Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction and cropping, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
   2. Enhancement Junior--
      1. A LIVE MODEL MUST BE USED
      2. SALON STYLE - normal smile lines & C-Curve, no extra points for deep competition style smile lines or C-Curves. PINK & WHITES -- NO: Color Acrylic, Glitter Acrylic, Glitter Gel or Color Gel
      3. Three photos: 
         1. "Close-up" of 4 nails - 2 painted with red cream polish, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted.
         2. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover. (Should be done BEFORE polishing the 2 nails red)
         3. "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.
      4. Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be "normal Salon length".
      5. Essay: "Step-by-step" detailing what type of enhancement (acrylic, gel, wrap) used as well as tip style (color -if white tip used) and product colors, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
         DO NOT INCLUDE BRAND NAMES in the essay.
      6. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
      7. Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
   3. Mixed Media Junior & Senior-- 
      1. All art must be created specifically for this competition. No art or tips used in any other competition may be used. NO RECYCLED ART
      2. A LIVE MODEL or TIPS (minimum 4 tips)
      3. DO NOT SEND 4 COMPLETELY DIFFERENT ART DESIGNS in one photo -- submission should follow one theme or idea - There is no set theme, but entry MUST follow your chosen theme
      4. TWO photos: 
         1. "Close-up" of 4 nails, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted.
         2. "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover.
         3. There is no "set" theme this year
      5. NOTHING hanging, dangling, extending off the nail plate, NOTHING more than 1/4" high from the nail plate. Art should be contained within the canvas of the nail itself.
         1. If your art work is questionable as to how far it extends up or off the nail, you will be disqualified.
      6. Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be fitting of your design.
      7. Essay: "Step-by-step" essay detailing paint colors, brushes, airbrush guns, acrylic/gel style, powder colors, etc, type of product used, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
         DO NOT INCLUDE BRAND NAMES in the essay.
      8. Any type of art is acceptable: flat, air brush, color acrylic/gel, stones, glitter, except NO Decals. Mix and match or one style is acceptable - no points will be deducted for using one style art (eg: 100% hand painted).
      9. MUST be Original Art, no obscene, objectionable or copyrighted (ie: Disney characters, professional sports logos, personality likeness) material will be accepted. Decals are NOT allowed. Presidents likeness, historical papers, landmarks, etc are not considered original art and are not allowed.
      10. Entry Form: electronically submitted.
      11. Headshot: of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
9. All entries will be considered final when all materials have been received by BeautyTech (entry form, payment, scan(s), headshot, and essay(s)). NO REQUESTS FOR CHANGES FOR ANY REASON WILL BE ACCEPTED.
10. All entry material, entry form and entry fees must be received by October 31, 2006 MIDNIGHT EST NO EXCEPTIONS 
11. ALL ENTRY MATERIAL MUST BE SENT WITHIN A 2 HOUR TIME PERIOD. If you are not prepared to send your images and payment and entry form at the same time, please wait until you are ready to do so
    1. EXCEPTION: if you are postal mailing part of your entry, please email or call and let us know this.
12. INCOMPLETE ENTRIES WILL BE DISQUALIFIED
13. Check your email frequently after your submission for notice of acceptance, problems, etc.
14. Late entries will not be accepted or returned (unless pre-paid postage is supplied).
15. All entries will be displayed online, at beautytech.com in the contest area on November 3, 2006 for public viewing and judging.
16. All judging sheets will be emailed to the entrant within two weeks of the close of the contest.
17. A 1-10 100 point total scoring system will be used. 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.
    1. Enhancement categories will include criteria based on whether you use tips, sculpt, acrylic, gel, wraps, etc. Please see the judging sheets for the scoring
18. In the event of a tie for place or grand prize, representatives from participating companies will be asked to judge the tied entries, based on the same criteria as the regular judges, to decide the winner.
19. All prizes will be shipped directly from the individual manufacturer/distributor.
    1. Winners residing outside of the continental US:
       1. If possible should provide a US STREET address for your prizes (see entry form)
       2. Every effort will be made to ship your due prizes. However, due to high shipping costs and shipping restrictions, you may: 

          	Receive an alternative prize.
          	Given the option of being personally responsible for shipping costs.
          	After all other options have been attempted, may need to forfeit the actual prize.

20. All judges decisions are final.
21. Each entrant will receive one certificate of participation.
22. In the event insufficient entries are received, WWWeb Services retains the right to extend the contest deadline at their discretion.
23. WWWeb Services is not responsible for entry materials that are lost or damaged in transmission or shipping or prizes not received or damaged in shipping.
24. All entry submissions become the property of WWWeb Services.
25. Your entry is assumed permission for WWWeb Services to use scans online for viewing, judging and promotional purposes.
26. Your name, address, phone number and email address will be shared with all participating companies.
27. Winners will be announced to all major beauty trade publications.

Entrance fee: $15.00 (US$) per entry. Payable by PayPal or check/money order ONLY. PayPal link will be on page AFTER you submit your entry form.
