In addition to the category place prizes, the "Over All" highest point
score from all categories
will win a cover shoot for NAILS Magazine, along with $800 toward travel

ALL ENTRIES:

Contest open to all professional nail technicians, licensed or residing in unlicensed states or countries. Students may enter Junior Division ONLY.
This includes licensed cosmetologists & cosmetology students that perform
nail services.
- Senior division: previously entered AND placed 3rd or higher in any
competition (in a similar category), online or off.
- Junior division: previously entered and placed 4th or lower in any competition
(in a similar category), online or off -OR- previously never entered any competition online or off.
- Manufacturer educators may enter all categories; full-time salaried employees of manufacturers are not eligible to compete.
- All FIRST PLACE Winners of the 2004 Strut Your Stuff contest at BeautyTech are
NOT eligible to enter ANY category in 2005. All other winners in
2003 or previous may enter any category in 2005 according to the Jr./Sr. rules above.
- ONE entry per entrant / per category. Entry fees apply to EACH entry.
- Your entry submission will be confirmed via email.
- Entries limited to 60 per category.
- You will be notified if your entry was or was not one of the 1st 60 in the category you have entered in.
- ALL entries may be scanned into a computer, directly from nails or
tips, using any commercially available scanner, computer and software.
Scans from photographs ARE acceptable. Digital photographs ARE
acceptable. No points will be deducted for using one method over another.
HOWEVER, digital photography and direct scans give a cleaner, more detailed result. Sample Scans

- Scans MUST be submitted at 300 DPI, 100%, final size maximum 640 x 480 pixels, saved as JPEG file only. Sample Scans

Scanning tips HERE Reduce the image before transmitting to maximum 640 x 480 pixels. A thumbnail view will be created by WWWeb Services from the original and linked to the full size entry for judging purposes.
- Touchup permitted using any commercially available graphics program.
- All entry shots & headshot shall be submitted electronically by email
attachment or postal mail 1.44 MB PC floppy disk to the address below.
Disk(s) to be returned ONLY with postage paid envelope as supplied by entrant.
- The entry form will be electronically submitted if paying by check OR PayPal.
- Winners "step-by-step" or procedures will be displayed on the winners page.
Only email versions of "step-by-step" will be accepted and placed online. All essays will be displayed to the judges EXACTLY as they were submitted, no formatting, spell checking or any other type of adjustment will be made to submitted essays.
- ALL Categories
- Any type of enhancement may be used, acrylic, gel fiberglass or silk, etc.
- Incomplete entries, 5 points will be deducted from total score
- Top coat, base coat, cuticle oil and gel "finish" products
may be used. Excess cuticle oil will lose points.
- REQUIRED:

- COMPETITION STYLE - Deep smile lines & C-Curve. PINK &
WHITES -- NO COLORED Acrylics or gels
- THREE photos:
- "Close-up" of 4 nails - 2 painted with red cream polish, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted, 2 nails buffed to high shine and/or top coat.
- "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover.
- "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.
- Nails may be any length and shape, keeping the "competition style" requirement in mind.
- "Step-by-step" essay detailing what type of enhancement (acrylic, gel, wrap) used as well as tip brand (color -if white tip used) and product color, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
- Entry Form electronically submitted.
- Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction and cropping, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
- Enhancement Junior--
- SALON STYLE - normal smile lines & C-Curve, no extra points for deep competition style smile lines or C-Curves.
PINK & WHITES -- NO COLORED Acrylics or gels
- Three photos:
- "Close-up" of 4 nails - 2 painted with red cream polish, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted.
- "Down the barrel" shot. Click for samples.
- "Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover.
- "Step-by-step" essay detailing what type of enhancement (acrylic, gel, wrap) used as well as tip brand (color -if white tip used) and product colors, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
- Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be "normal Salon length".
- Entry Form electronically submitted.
- Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
- Mixed Media Junior & Senior--
- THEME REQUIRED: Dreaming of a Decade -

- TWO photos:
- Close-up of 4 nails, cuticle oil, base & top coats are permitted.
- "THEME Presentation" such as would be suitable for a magazine cover.
- NOTHING hanging off the nail plate, NOTHING more than 1/4" high from the nail plate.
- Nails may be any length and shape. Shape and/or length should be fitting of your design.
- "Step-by-step" essay detailing paint colors, brushes, airbrush guns, acrylic/gel brands, powder colors, etc, product
line(s) used, scanner/camera information, editing software information.
- Any type of art is acceptable: flat, air brush, color acrylic/gel, stones, glitter, except NO Decals. Mix and match or one style is acceptable - no points will be deducted for using one style art
(eg: 100% hand painted).
- MUST be Original Art, no obscene, objectionable or copyrighted
(ie: Disney characters, professional sports logos, personality likeness) material will be accepted. Decals are NOT allowed.
- Entry Form electronically submitted.
- Headshot of entrant in electronic format: head & shoulders only, saved as a JPEG file no larger than 320 x 240 pixels. Reduction, if needed, will be done by WWWeb Services. This file should be sent in the same manner as the actual entry (see # 3a).
- WWWeb Services is not responsible for entry materials that are lost or damaged in transmission or shipping.
- All entry submissions become the property of WWWeb Services.
- Your entry is assumed permission for WWWeb Services to use scans online for viewing, judging and promotional purposes.
- Winners will be announced to all major beauty trade publications.
- All entries will be considered final when all materials have been received by BeautyTech (entry form, payment,
scan(s), headshot, and essay(s)). NO REQUESTS FOR CHANGES FOR ANY REASON WILL BE ACCEPTED.
- All entry material, entry form and entry fees must be received by September 30, 2003 MIDNIGHT EST
NO EXCEPTIONS
- Late entries will not be accepted or returned (unless pre-paid postage is supplied).
- All entries will be displayed online, at beautytech.com in the contest area on October 1, 2003 for public viewing and judging.
- All judging sheets will be emailed to the entrant within two weeks of the close of the contest.
- A 1-10 100 point total scoring system will be used. 1 being the lowest and 10 being the highest.
- In the event of a tie for place or grand prize, representatives from participating companies will be asked to judge the tied entries, based on the same criteria as the regular judges, to decide the winner.
- All prizes will be shipped directly from the individual manufacturer/distributor.
- Winners residing outside of the continental US:
- Every effort will be made to ship your due prizes. However, due to high shipping costs and shipping restrictions, you may:
- Receive an alternative prize.
- Given the option of being responsible for shipping costs.
- After all other options have been attempted, may need to forfeit the actual prize.
- All judges decisions are final.
- Each entrant will receive one certificate of participation.
- In the event insufficient entries are received, WWWeb Services retains the right to extend the contest at their discretion.
