...A protein called keratin is what makes up the nail plate extremely tough and durable. The toughness of nail plates is the secret to their strength! Tough nails are much less likely to break or crack. The same holds true for enhancements. We want them to be tough, as well. Like artificial enhancements, the natural nail plate also contains cross-links. Keratin cross-links make nail plates tough, strong and hard. If the natural nail plate contains too few cross-links, it will be flimsy and weak. Nail plates that contain large excesses of cross-links will be brittle and extremely hard....
