INTA/NMC PEDICURE EQUIPMENT CLEANING & DISINFECTING PROCEDURES International Nail Technicians Association® and Nail Manufacturers Council of the Professional Beauty Association Co-Brand Nail Technician Education on Cleaning & Disinfecting Procedures for Pedicure Equipment
To ensure the long-term viability of the professional salon and nail industry, the International Nail Technicians Association® (INTA), Chicago, IL, and the Nail Manufacturers Council (NMC), Scottsdale, AZ, of the Professional Beauty Association (PBA), have launched a co-branded education program emphasizing the importance of observing \"Pedicure Equipment Cleaning & Disinfecting Procedures\" to nail salons and technicians nationwide.
The recommended Procedures include step-by-step instructions for cleaning and disinfecting all types of pedicure equipment immediately following each client, at the end of a service day and at the end of each week. Use of EPA-registered hospital grade liquid disinfectants is recommended and explained. It is further suggested that the salon keep careful records of the cleaning procedures in a special logbook for that purpose.
Improper cleaning of pedicure equipment may lead to health safety concerns for salon clients, intense regulatory investigation and a severe threat to a salon\'s profitability. \"It is vital that salon teams incorporate the INTA/NMC Pedicure Equipment Cleaning and Disinfecting Procedures into their daily and weekly schedules,\" emphasized Paul Dykstra, CEO of the International Nail Technicians Association. \"Salon owners are also urged to display the Cleaning and Disinfecting Procedures in all employee areas.\"
\"Through a coordinated and unified message, we will continue to reinforce the fact that one set of standards and guidelines exists for the entire nail industry,\" said Doug Schoon, Co-Chair, NMC Safety and Standards Committee. \"By reminding everyone in the industry that we are the source for this scientifically based information we will continue to increase consumer confidence and bring greater satisfaction to the technicians and clients,\" he continued. \"We will take every opportunity available to continue to point out that our industry is safe and responsible.\"
The INTA/NMC Pedicure Equipment Cleaning & Disinfecting Procedures can be downloaded in pdf format for reproduction, at both associations\' websites - www.chicagomidwestbeautyshow.com and www.probeauty.org.
Salon Professionals may call INTA on 1-312-321-6809 to receive additional copies of the Procedures brochures. There will be a $3 handling charge for each brochure. Many manufacturers and distributors will also make the information available to salons. Brochures are currently available in English. Translation of the information into Spanish, Vietnamese, Korean, Polish and Russian is being made to ensure wide accessibility to salon professionals.
